All queens are shipped overnight to reduce shipping stress on queens. Same shipping price for 1 - 4 queens. We no longer ship USPS. We strongly discourage shipping queens to the West coast area, because of the heat, and greatly encourage everyone else to pick up queens if possible.
Note: Rain can delay queens up to a day or so, you must be able to be flexible. We will do everything we can to alert you when we must delay shipping because of the weather. Please understand this is part of dealing with livestock and be prepared for it.
Beekeepers are finding it hard to locate queens but my dream team has come through for you. We have queens! These are northern queens raised in Central and Northern Illinois from strong colonies. All queens are raised from hives that been inspected and comply with all rules and regulations of the Illinois State Apiary Department. We do not focus on race but rather, good genetics. They are marked green for 2019 and should be easy to find during your inspections, however, worker bees have been known to scratch off the paint.
We have queens available for pick up or shipping. For pick up, call us at 217-427-2678 Tues - Sat from 10 - 2pm to schedule pick up, which is Wednesday of each week.
This is for 1 mated and marked queen. If you need more than one, please select the specific product for the number you need. If you need "1" select "1" from the list, if you need "4", select"4" --do not select "1" multiple times, because that adds individual shipping on each time.
Queen Shipping Delivery Information
Make sure you do need a queen, because the last date to cancel a queen order is the Friday before the Monday shipping. 10% restock fees for cancellations within 48 hours of shipping.
IF WE EXPERIENCE PROBLEMS SHIPPING ON THIS DATE (due to weather etc), YOU WILL BE CALLED AT THE NUMBER YOU PROVIDED TO ALERT YOU OF THIS. CHECK YOUR VOICEMAIL AND EMAIL AS WELL.
Note: If you have any questions about your new queen, or issues surrounding the delivery, please call us during our office hours as listed below within 48 hours of receipt. You will need to show photographed proof of any issues of the delivery.
We can replace a dead queen free one time, but you will be responsible for the shipping costs again.
We do not know what time of day UPS delivers to your home, but queens can die left out in heat.
Please have someone available to take delivery of your queens, or have them shipped to your office, or to a friend who can take delivery.
UPS nor Long Lane Honey Bee Farms will replace queens left out in the heat and died. Someone must take possession of this package upon delivery.
But being a knowledgeable beekeeper, we are sure you understand that!
UPS Worldship will send you an email with your tracking information. If you go to the ups.com website, you can also add individual choices, such as text alerts, to keep you updated on her travels.
We do not guarantee acceptance of the queen by your hive, only live delivery.
Kill or take out the old queen at least 24 hours before installing a new queen and destroy any queen cells they may currently be raising.
Do not remove candy plug from queen cage, only cork or plastic plug covering any candy. We do NOT recommend doing an immediate release as the colony may ball and kill her as they do not know her as their queen yet.
Hang the cage in center of brood area (much in the same way as when you installed a new package). You can hang a cage with a nail or ornament hook if you wish. Do not place any open screen area straight into comb. If the cage falls before the queen is released, pick it up and hang it back.
Wait 5 days to see if she has been released. If not, open the cage and release.
