Beetle Blaster. Add your own vegetable oil to trap and kill Small Hive Beetles. A Syringe (no metal needle) is included to assist in filling the trap.
Place in top super in summer and in brood nest in winter. Fill trap about half full (20 cc's) of cooking oil before putting it in place. In honey super, place the trap between the top bars of two frames where beetles are observed. If none are observed, place near the side and toward the back of hive. In brood nest, place the trap between top bars near the center of the brood area. Clean any wax from top bars so trap will fit down flat. When opening hive after placement, drag hive tool firmly from one end of the trap to the other. You can kill many beetles hiding under trap by doing this. The traps can be left in place for months, but empty out if there are a large number of beetles in trap as they can rot and render the trap ineffective. Place a trap in all hives to prevent beetle migration. You can place up to several traps in one hive. If you have a hive collapsing from hive beetles, place 3 or 4 traps in hive to keep as many beetles from migrating to your other colonies as possible.
